WHY YOU SHOULD BE DRINKING GREEN TEA!
Green tea is getting more attention recently, especially for its health benefits. Asian countries such as China and Japanese have recognised the benefits of green tea for many years. There are many studies supporting the health benefits of drinking green tea.
Green tea differs from black tea in that it is not fermented before drying. The fermentation of black tea reduces its nutritional content, including antioxidants and flavonoids.
Green tea has numerous reported health benefits ranging from fighting cancer, preventing strokes and decreasing high cholesterol levels (Journal of Nutrition review). Moreover, according to livescience.com, an ongoing study of women with breast cancer showed that polyphenols in green tea may slow down proteins that are part of tumor cell growth. There has also been some resent discussion on that it can boost your metabolic rate, intern aiding digestion of food. The high levels of flavonoids act to support the body’s anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory and anti-allergenic systems. Green tea has also been shown to reduce psychological distress and act as a mood enhancer!
Green tea has not only been shown to have health benefits by drinking it, but also used on your outer body! Many soaps, face creams and other face and body care products are using green tea as one of their ingredients. Research shows that topically applied green tea can benefit your skin, due to its flavonoids which ultimately act in anti-aging. A study outlined that green tea is a powerful antioxidant, which protects against free radical damage to the skin. Free radical or oxidative damage promotes aging.
In summary, drinking green tea will not only make you a healthier, but a happier as well!
